Barbara Coultas: vocals
Stuart Midgley: saxes and flute
Darren Dutson-Bromley: guitar
Frannie Haywood: drums
Martin Coultas: double bass
Darren studied jazz and classical guitar at Leeds College of Music and has since enjoyed a successful career as performer and teacher. Various collaborations in both the jazz and classical fields have allowed Darren to perform extensively throughout the country and abroad.
Frannie is an internationally-renowned drummer who has worked with many top artists including Peggy Lee, throughout his long career.
Stuart started out as a drummer in the 60s playing around Bradford and occasionally with NYJO, before switching to sax/flute in the early 80s. Since returning to Yorkshire, he has played with a variety of bands (from big bands to wind bands) across the region.
Martin first began playing jazz with Ken Butler at West Leeds High School in the Fifties, since when he has played most styles of music, with the likes of Mike d'Abo, pre- Manfred Mann, and latterly with many big bands and small groups throughout Yorkshire.
Barbara has sung all her life but only began singing with jazz groups and big bands some fifteen years ago. She is relishing working in the intimate setting of small ensembles and is delighted to be fronting the band this evening.
