Bruce Adams 18 Feb
From The Jazz Co-op
Hi everybody!
Over the next three weeks we present a wide range of jazz, from big band to chordless trio, veteran polished performers to fresh rough diamonds, with some funk and folk in between.
On Saturday 18 February we expecting a crowd in the main bar to welcome Bruce Adams with Strictly Smokin' Big Band. A special one-off gig with jazz trumpeter Bruce Adams as guest soloist with Strictly Smokin' Big Band. Members of Jazz.Coop (including some from Strictly Smokin' Big Band) attending the first Ushaw Jazz Festival in August 2016 were so bowled over by Bruce Adams' performance that they straight away decided to book for this special collaboration at the Globe.
The following Saturday 25th feb local jazz/rock fusion quartet Redemption will be in the jazz bar.
On Saturday 4 March the exhilarating saxbassdrums unit Blind Monk Trio 'the best band from Liverpool since ...' come to Newcastle to lead a Play Jazz! workshop at Sage Gateshead and play a gig at the Globe. The spirit of Thelonius Monk with rock'n'roll attitude. BLIND MONK TRIO put a fresh, modern spin on the chordless trio format, with influences from the whole history of the genre (Sonny Rollins, Joe Henderson, FLY, Avishai Cohen (Trumpet), J.D. Allen Trio ...) blended with dark cinematic grooves and eastern folk.
