Stan Roylance RIP

From Dave Lee, for friends of Stan Roylance.

"I am so saddened to have to report the passing of my friend and fellow drummer, Stan Roylance who passed away yesterday (Sunday) whilst in Leeds General Infirmary.

Stan was in hospital having hip replacement surgery which had gone very successfully it seemed but post surgery heart problems led to his passing.

Those of my muso friends will remember Stan as very much the joker and a man who was always very supportive of jazz. Indeed he has been the 'fixer' and drummer for the Cullingworth Jazz Night for many years and has booked countless saxophonists and singers for the regular Wednesday night sessions at Cullingworth Conservative Club.

Before going into hospital for his op' Stan had arranged for me to cover his Cullingworth gigs whilst he was away. I will still be honouring that commitment albeit with great sadness in my heart.

Stan's funeral will be held on Wednesday 29th April at 3.00 pm at the Rawdon Crematorium, Leeds Road, LS19 6JP. Meeting up afterwards, at The Queens Arms, 99 Long Row, Horseforth, Leeds, LS18 5AT.

Stan, may you rest in peace my friend ... but keep on swinging"
