Stacey Kent
From Sue Bradley...
It's just 30 days until the return of Ribble Valley’s very own 5 day Jazz Festival held over the weekend of
May Bank Holiday 30 April-3 May in Clitheroe, Lancashire.
And we’ve got a Sold
Out gig already – Stacey Kent’s Saturday night festival debut is fully booked
with weeks to go. As well as Stacey, 40
bands, over 350 musicians, a Jazz Train, a blues stage and a Saturday Street
Party and lots of free gigs combine to make for a brilliant weekend!
As an Easter warm up, on the 10th of April,
we'll whet your appetite with the Arun Ghosh band at a pre-festival gig at the
Grand Venue in Clitheroe. The line-up is
Arun Ghosh - clarinet, Liran Don - double bass,, John Ellis - keyboard, and
Dave Walsh - drums.
This year's festival headliners include
Alan Skidmore / Pete King / Steve Melling Quintet on Friday

The Andy Sheppard Quartet on Sunday 3 May, Venue: The Grand
Soweto Kinch Trio also on Sunday 3 May, Venue: The Grand
And as swinging finale, Paul Rigby's Northern Jazz Orchestra

My own viewing hit list? – Mike Walker and Stuart MacCullum in a guitar
heaven out at the Grindleton Village Hall on Thursday 30 April, Yorkshire’s own A Dread Supreme, Friday
night 1 May at Clitheroe Castle’s Atrium, Bassa Bassa on Saturday’s Street Fest in the heart of
Clitheroe, and Unfurl, doing the honours at Monday’s midday slot at the Atrium – always a fantastic atmosphere as the fest
