From Les and co at Boston Spa - their May listings - should be something for everyone to enjoy!
3rd – High Society Jazz Band – a rousing performance last summer resulted in many requests for a prompt return. A reputation for “happy spontaneous jazz” sums up the Band’s modus operandi with a repertoire extending from New Orleans to Ellington.
10th – Oriental Jazz Band – a group of exuberant young musicians from the Netherlands who attracted so many requests for a return performance. Last here in 2010, we have secured another session of what will undoubtedly be full blown, unrestrained Dixieland jazz. A knockout on previous visits. NB £10.
17th – Sorry – No Jazz this week – Hall Unavailable.
24th – Jeff Barnhart + John Hallam + Jamie Brownfield – one of the highlights of the year. Stride pianist Jeff Barnhart from the wonderfully named Mystic, Connecticut, USA plus the outstanding reeds player, John Hallam and young trumpet virtuoso, Jamie Brownfield plus rhythm accompaniment! A musical extravaganza par excellence. £10
31st – Savannah Jazz Band – and here’s a cracking end to the month as Yorkshire’s Ambassadors of Jazz return to the stage for another rollicking session to remember. Let’s hope that Bill brings his harmonica for those much enjoyed R & B numbers!
Jazz is at the Village Hall High Street Boston Spa LS23 6AA
We are situated just off the new section of the A1(M) at Junction 45 signed Wetherby and Otley.
