You may have already heard, but Ivor Surtees, who was the driving force behind Saltburn Jazz, has recently died. I'd heard that he was unwell but wasn't aware of quite how serious it was.
I was always impressed by the way that Ivor kept a jazz programme going in what can't have been an easy environment, especially over the past few years
Lets hope that our colleagues at Saltburn continue the Friday evening sessions at Saltburn Arts Centre that have been a feature of jazz in the North East
