Jay Phelpes
February was when Seven Jazz Leeds planned to have a concert featuring the wonderful UK pianist Stan Tracey but as you know Stan passed away just before Christmas. We'll be doing a proper tribute to him later in the year, but in the meantime we have another international jazz sextet for you this month with Canadian trumpeter Jay Phelps and his “Projections of Miles”. Do book tickets for this, as it will sell out soon.
Our Sunday afternoons will be good too, with guitarist Jamie Taylor and saxman Tom Harrison’s new quartet, local legend Gary Boyle with his band, Will Howard’s “Big Beat” double drum quintet that has been getting rave reviews. To start with though, in a change in our advertised programme we are really proud to present this coming Sunday afternoon at Inkwell as part of their national tour guitarist Ant Law and his new quartet.
