Wakefield Jazz's New Year season

Wakefield Jazz's New Year season begins on Friday 17th January and runs weekly to a short break at Easter after 4th April.

We have a few Jazz heavyweights appearing :  Peter King (7 Feb), Dennis Rollins Velocity Trio (7 March) and Liane Carroll (4 April); some artists new to the North : Ant Law Quintet (31 Jan), Josh Kemp's Jazz Prophets (21 Feb) and Benet McLean (14 March) the fast-rising singer pianist whose digital skill has been compared to Art Tatum.    

Regional bands include Matt Anderson's Wildflower Sextet featuring Laura Jurd (17 Jan), Jamil Sheriff trio and Richard Iles Microscopic (both 28 March).   Sarah Gillespie (singer) with Kit Downes (24 Jan), Jean Toussaint (28 Feb), and Gareth Williams (21 Mar) complete the programme.        

Roughly once a month we feature a support band of highly competent young musicians for an early set from 7:30pm - check our website for these late additions (wakefieldjazz.org), advance booking, pre-gig meals and other details.
