The Generation Big Band

Have you heard about the Generation Big Band? It is Leeds College of Music aim to bring together excellence across all generations of the Yorkshire jazz community.

The band will consist of alumni who are working professionally in the music business, existing LCoM conservatoire students, along with up and coming young musicians who show great potential.

Generation Big Band is a new and exciting project led by Mark Chandler at Leeds College of Music. The band will feature some of the current LCoM students and alumni and also 6 younger musicians. The idea is to bring together different generations of brilliant musicians to form one fantastic band. The fee for young musicians is £125.

LCoM are looking for six talented musicians up to the age of 18 to join this project.  We would expect to receive applications from students aged 14+, although if you are younger and of a high standard on your instrument, please do apply.

Auditions will be held on Saturday 26 November 2016 between 2.30pm and 4.30pm.

Auditionees will be asked to play as part of a small ensemble along with a rhythm section of LCoM students.  Rhythm section auditionees will play as part of a rhythm section.  Music will be provided to read, including a chord progression to improvise over.

The band will be led by Mark Chandler is one of the top trumpet players in the UK, working internationally and making a living until recently as a session player in London.
