Bugalu Foundation - Oct 2nd
Chris DeSaram writes
"With 10 gigs between now and Christmas featuring some of the UK’s top jazz musicians the Wakefield Jazz autumn season promises to be as good as ever. The variety of style and genres is excellent with a healthy mix of new bands and established favourites.
The season kicks off on October 2nd with the irresistible Bugalu Foundation led by conga player Sam Bell whose roots go back to the Leeds Northern Latin soul scene. Now some 20 years on Bugalu has regenerated with some super-talented young blood creating a dance friendly fusion of jazz, funk and soul with the beats of “El Barrio” – Spanish Harlem and Latin America. With all that rhythm the audience will find it hard to stay in their seats!
The season lineup follows on with the saxes of Andy Panayi and Ben Clatworthy the gypsy violin of Matt Holborn, haunting Indian vocals from Vanessa Rani Chutturgoon outstanding piano from Tom Cawley and Ivo Neame and a big band blast from Ronnie Bottomley’s All Stars. A truly outstanding array of jazz musical talent.
Jazz promoter Chris de Saram says “we are providing the best contemporary jazz in a terrific club atmosphere, every gig delivers the essence of jazz and provides a creative experience for all jazz lovers and live music fans”.
