Sam Ashton writes
"On Friday June 19th Jazz in Hornby will host a return visit of Mike Lovell`s Six-In-A Bar; Dixieland jazz at it`s finest. Nothing corny about this band, every member a seasoned, youthful- looking veteran, very inventive and swinging soloists, and tight in the ensembles. The repertoire consists mostly of songs from the twenties and thirties. Mike Lovell leads on trombone: Willy Entwistle, reeds, violin and flageolet; Andy Henderson, cornet, flugel horn and vocals; Colin Turner, bass sax and Bb tuba; Chris Howse, banjo, guitar, vocals; and Pete Eddowes, percussion, washboard, and other sundry pots and pans.
These kids can really knock the jug.
Venue: the Village Institute, Main Street, (A683) Hornby, Lancs,LA2 8JR. Doors and bar open at 7.30, music from 8 p.m. Tickets, £10, on the door or ring 015242 22227"
