AJ Brown
Matt Ball
Bob Walker writes:Two special Easter gigs at Scarborough Jazz to celebrate the Easter break
Wed 1 April AJ Brown
With supporters including Clare Teal and Sheila Tracy it seems likely that the singer/songwriter/saxophonist, dubbed “Britain’s Buble”, is destined for Stardom. Hailing from Halifax, AJ rose through the ranks of The Calderdale Youth Big Band, followed by The Wigan Youth Jazz Orchestra, finally honing his skills at Leeds College of Music. Appearances with Clare Teal, Sir Tim Rice and Ian Shaw have ensured this young performer a place in the hearts of a fast growing audience. With influences including Michael Buble; Stevie Wonder; Frank Sinatra; Nat King Cole; Mel Torme; Ella Fitzgerald; Tony Bennett and Gregory Porter we can expect a fine mix of originals and covers - many from his own rich library of recordings. AJ will be accompanied by his own finely tuned trio which includes the very talented Martin Longhawn on keys. This night is generously sponsored by SIV (Sheffield International Venues). £7 (£6 advance)

Matt has played with many of the UK’s top vocalists and musicians including Clare Teal, Alan Barnes, Andy Prior, Dennis Rollins and Elbow. Matt’s festival credits include Manchester, Wigan, Southport and Scarborough. Amazingly he also finds time to teach and has gained a fine reputation as a composer.
