Andrew McCormack at 7Jazz Leeds

Andrew McCormack

From Seven Jazz in Leeds

This March we've got jazz karaoke, gypsy jazz, a big band, a superb jazz guitarist, and "our man in New York" Andrew McCormack with saxman Mark Lockheart. Variety is the spice of life!

Jamie Taylor's "Outside Line" @Seven Arts 1.30pm, Sun 8 March £7/5 concessions
Local hero jazz guitarist Jamie Taylor's “Outside Line” quartet, featuring saxman Matt Anderson, bassist Garry Jackson, and drummer Dave Walsh. The quartet strike a good balance between the contemporary and the traditional.

Inkwell Jazz Cafe @Inkwell 1.30pm, Sun 15 March £7/5 concessions
We feel there is something special about our Seven Jazz Cafe. We've had solo banjo players, boogie pianists, Flanders and Swann affectionados, school and youth bands, lots of singers and instrumentalists and our own choir and workshop bands. So as the word "jam session" doesn't really do it justice and we'll try the term "Jazz Karaoke" instead! The rhythm section is led by one of the North-West's finest keyboard players, John Quinn. Listeners very welcome too.

Leeds University Union Big Band @Seven Arts 1.30pm, Sun 22 March £7/5 concessions
Formed in 1987, this 22 piece big band is a Leeds University Union society and performs  around Leeds and the West Yorkshire area. The band has played at venues like the Leeds Brudenell Club and in 2012 performed with jazz singer Liane Carroll.
