Landermason

Dave Parker writes about two very different gigs at  Newcastle's Jazz Co-op

Jazz saxophone from Los Angeles and Northumbrian pipes from Hexham - the Globe is catering for a range of tastes in the next three days.

Benn Clatworthy and his UK/US quartet are playing on Thursday 20 November - don't miss this rare visit. We're thrilled to be hosting the most northerly gig in the tour of the Benn Clatworthy UK/US Quartet on Thursday 20 November at 8pm. The international quartet is Benn Clatworthy (saxophones), Cecilia Coleman (piano), Simon Thorpe (bass), Matt Home (drums).Benn’s distinctive, muscular saxophone and flute feature in his unique arrangements of standards from Cole Porter to Marvin Gaye, John Coltrane and more

On Saturday 22 November our unique Folk Meets Jazz event with Landermason and Andy May / Ian Stephenson.
Louis Armstrong said 'all music is folk music', and here at Jazz.Coop we agree. We don't like to put musicians in boxes. So on Saturday 22 November we're putting on a unique double bill featuring some of the region's finest folk musicians exploring the role of jazz in their music.

There's also a free entry jam session on Sunday 23 November. For full details see the What's On page of our website.

Free admission for guests of members
We're now into the second month of our first jazz season at The Globe, we've installed a lift and nearly finished the refurbishment. We would not have been able to achieve this without the investment and support of our members. So as a thank you we are making a special offer to everyone who has bought shares in the co-op.
