Sunday afternoon gypsy jazz in Huddersfield

As part of our new Autumn & Winter line-up Huddersfield Jazz is proud to welcome to Café Society

The Andy Lawrenson Trio with their Gypsy Jazz Experience

The Gypsy Jazz Experience is a stylish, humorous and very entertaining portrayal of a style of music originally pioneered by Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grappelli in 1930’s Paris, the distinctive style of Gypsy Jazz is instantly recognisable – acoustic, up-tempo, alternately joyous, exotic, passionate and full of pathos. The Andy Lawrenson Trio mix the instrumental style with songs from the great American Songbook, blending style, flair, astonishing dexterity and plenty of interaction to produce a show to warm the hearts and entertain any audience.

Line-Up: Andy Lawrenson – Violin & Vocals, Paul Grainger – Double Bass,  Simon O’Byrne – Guitar & Vocals

Collectively, the band have worked with a diverse range of musicians such as Albert Lee, Elvis Costello, Les Dawson, Richard Thomson, and Tim Garland – a must-see act for any fans of acoustic roots music
