Malija's Yorkshire tour

Malija with saxophonist Mark Lockheart, Jasper Høiby on bass and Liam Noble piano, will be starting their mini three date Yorkshire tour tonight in Leeds then playing in Sheffield and York. Described as original music with influences from bluegrass, tango and jungle grooves (or as Jasper Høiby put it “weird, simple, complicated, free, tight, floaty, ugly, beautiful and heartfelt depending on your mood”).

The  Guardian preview on Saturday was very positive  http://www.theguardian.com/music/2016/mar/25/this-weeks-new-live-music?CMP=share_btn_tw  but you can check out some clips that are just up on the BBC Radio 3 website from their broadcast on 'Jazz Now' on Monday night on Radio 3 and see what you think!  http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b075bchh/clips

The three Yorkshire dates plus a workshop are

Thu, 31 Mar Seven Arts Leeds, Leeds, UK (Seven Jazz Leeds)
Fri, 1 Apr  Crucible Studio, Sheffield, UK (Sheffield Jazz)
Sat 2 April Jazz Workshop at Crucible Sheffield 10-12.30pm (Music in the Round)
Sun, 3 Apr The National Centre For Early Music (NCEM), York, UK
