Partisans
The jazz world seems to have bands these days with quirky names. (try spelling Paul Baxter's "Eyeshutight" correctly, especially after a couple of pints....) November at Seven Jazz in Leeds is going to be a challenge for our announcer then with concerts by "Play Out" "Partisans" "Samadhi" and ...er... "Eyeshutight".!

Part of a national Jazz Services tour by Manchester based drummer Johnny Hunter group well known in the jazz, dub and reggae scenes. They have released their first recording, “Appropriations”, on Efpi Records. £7/5 concessions

Their music is jazz (lots of improvisation) but also it's very groovy and is strongly influenced by Indian classical music, particularly the rhythms and grooves. It's exciting stuff! £7/5 concessions

Zoë Gilby is a jazz vocalist and songwriter that has been making a real impression on the jazz scene today.
